Abstract
Language is born in society and societies are established by humans. Language
gave birth to civilization, laid foundation of ways of living , social milieu and
morality, and besides illuminating, enriching and adorning this world through
expression of thought, connected every individual with another. Moreover set
up communities, tribes and relations. Urdu is our national language and
Punjabi is the language of Punjab. It is known an "Mann Boli". According to
researches, these two languages are very close to each other. In this article,
light has been thrown on the origin of Punjab and Punjabi language, its effects
on Urdu language and the common features of both languages. Theirlexicology,
syntax and morphology are all alike. When two languages share so much, their
relation with each other cannot be underestimated.
