Abstract
Traces of imagery are found in the very start of Iqbal's poetry. He
portrays both static and kinesthetic images in his poetry. His imagery
revolves around evolution. They are not mere picture but carry symbolic
meaning too. Iqbal is a literary artist. He makes imagery more beautiful by
employing literary beauties to his imagery. Besides colour imagery,
impressive imagery is also found in his poetry. Since he uses natural
images, they have intellectual touch. In fact, Iqbal is the first poet who has
not used imagery for the sake of depiction but with a purpose. His imagery
is an ample proof of his deep insight. His imagery is not mere decorative
but representative of his emotions.
