Abstract
"The present article traces the history of the scientific Urdu novel.
There has always been two schools of thought related to science. One of
them believes the world owes its development to science along whereas the
other opines that science is no less than an inconvenience and that it is
responsible for the deterioration of the mankind.
As science is related to all circles of life so it is related to Urdu
literature too. The subgenre of scientific novel originates in Urdu novel with
Umer Zafer's 'Neeli Chatri'. The most prominent scientific novelists include
Ibn-e-safi, Mazar kaleem M.A., Mohiyyud Din Nawab and M. Khalid
Akhter. Hijab imtiaz Ali Taj, Bano qudsia, Ather Baig and Waheed Ahmad
are the other representatives of the scientific Urdu novel. A misconception
about the Urdu novel is that it's replete with the pleasures and pain of love
alone, reality how seen is totally opposite to it. Novel today, presents the
philosophical delicacies and theories. Scientific topics are well represented
too."
