Abstract
Allama Iqbal is a great poet of Urdu Literature. He is a trend setter in
modern Urdu poems. In 1977 government of Pakistan decided to celebrate
the hundred years of Iqbal's birthday. Literary circles across the country
engaged in these centennial celebrations. Many literary journals published
special editions and Iqbal numbers. In these editions many renowned
scholars and famous writers including close friends and family members of
Iqbal wrote research articles on different aspects of Iqbal's life and works.
Their interviews and unpublished letters and other writings of Iqbal were
published in these Iqbal numbers for the first time and highlighted several
new avenues of Iqbal's personality, poetry, philosophy, art and fun. Many
of these scholars are not with us now but the precious memories shared by
them are saved in these Iqbal numbers for future generations.
