Abstract
Social and Political revolution of the Soviet Union left a deep impact
on literary world. A large number of writers were attracted by the socialist
ideology which became a fashionable creed of progressive writers in the
early twentieth century. It inspired the "Progressive Movement" of Urdu
literature which had for its aim the awakening of the reader's conscience
against the social evils of poverity, oppression and exploitation. Writers's
love of the proletariat and thier anti imperialist stand are clearly reflected in
their works. Especially the poets of the slave Hindustan hoped of a new
dawn,born out of the socialist ideology of Soviet Russia.Besides a very brief
history of Soviet revolution an analytical study of Russian and Urdu poetry
with special refrence to revolution has been given throuhg this article.
