Abstract
The current study aims at determining the water quality of the Nimrud districtwells, southwest ofMosul, for drinking and civilian purposes by using the Canadian model of water quality. Theaquatic samples were collected from randomly distributed wells in the area during the dry seasonfor chemical and physical testing to assess their quality. The results of the study indicated the highlevels of most of the studied characteristics, which reflected negatively on the values of CCMEWQI (Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environmental Water Quality Index), where 70% ofthem classified as poor quality water for drinking and domestic use.The study recommendedperiodic monitoring of the quality of water with water treatment processes before being used fordrinking.
