Sanai the Devoted Poet

Abstract

"Undoubtedly, Sanai Ghaznavi, is one of the most devoted poets and narrators concerned with the social issues standing against oppression. As an opposing poet and a social critic in the arena of the Persian literature, he rises against a society drowned in hypocrisy – the biggest plaque in Sanai’s time-through expressing the most delicate and excellent moral, social, critical and mystic themes. Being a critic and social reformer, he has not hesitated to bring his courage of criticism into play for any social class. This commitment of the Hakim of Ghazni relies on his religious, Gnostic, moral and social worldview. In the present paper, attempt was made to state a concise account of Sanai’s thoughts, social and critical attitude as well as the reflections of Hakim of Balkh embedded in is poetical themes. "
