Īrān mēṅ Ajnabi: A Rejection of the Colonial Context
Abstract
Postcolonial studies aim at interpreting and analysing literary texts produced in line with colonial project of reform or in resistance to the narratives of colonial masters. This essay seeks to offer a reading Noon Meem Rashid’s seminal book, Īrān mēṅ Ajnabi in postcolonial perspective. During his stay in Iran, Rashid observed closely how white imperial powers were adopting diverse ways to exploit resources of Asian countries. He registered his ‘colonial experience’ in his poetry.
