Hinduism is the oldest Non-Semitic Religion of the world. It has a vast History as well. The word “Hinduism” itself has a very deep history .Many Historian says that Hinduism word was used in the old days for such people who lived and cultivated their lands alongside the Indus River. Few are of the view that Persian at first used the word “Hinduism”. In India more than 80% of the people are connected with this religion. Besides this, they also live as a part of community in Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka etc. Historically, Hinduism is not a preaching religion like Islam and Christianity although now a day they have started to open some center for this purpose but still they need a lot of work. On the other hand, we can call it a Public religion because most of the followers are trying to some extent to follow this religion in public. This Paper will not only describe the meaning of word “Hinduism” but will also draw light on the history of this religion.
