Woman is half of our society. Progress and prosperity in her life lead to the overall progress
and prosperity of our society. Similarly, backwardness and calamities in her life affect the whole
society negatively. That’s why too much attention is given to enhance women's empowerment and
their leading role in any institution is popularly appreciated. However, being a wife when her
husband dies and becomes a widow, that is a crucial stage when she faces numerous problems
including social, psychological and financial. And this is a stage of life when she needs much care
and much attention from all those who are dear and near to her. In such cases, if widow is treated
well and dealt with good intentions, she can prove to be a good contributor to the society as much
as to her family and her orphan kids, and if she is not given proper attention and due care, she can
harm the society and give her family and kids an irreparable damage. So it is up to the society and
the nearby people to be kind and affectionate towards her especially in this hard and cruel stage of
loneliness so that she could perform well and get up to the life ahead. This article elaborates
problems of widows in a Muslim society. It is basically divided into three sub-chapters in the
following way:
1. Importance Given to Widows in Islamic Shari’ah
2. Problems Faced by Widows are of three types:
a) Social Problems b). Psychological Problems c). Financial Problems
3. Solutions to those Problems Faced by Widows as following:
a). Solutions to Social Problems, b). Solutions to Psychological Problems, c). Solutions to
Financial Problems
