About 90 per cent land area of Pakistan has been covered by reconnaissance soil surveys. In addition, detailed soil surveys have been carried out in 320,700 ha. In these soil surveys soils are classified into soil scries and their phases. In the reconnaissance soil survey, soil maps show soil associations each of which usually include two or three soil series. In detailed soil surveys phases of individual soil series are delineated on soil maps.
