Abstract
The present study is part of ark ongoing research in which total reported cases of suicide during different years are being examined to understand the psychosocial factors of suicide in Pakistan. and their relationship to social change. The current paper is based upon a one-year sample i.e. all repotted cases during 1999 and focuses on gender differences in completed suicide cases in Punjab. This report examines the gender differences on various dimensions of suicide i.e. reported cause, method used, age group and marital status. Method of content analysis was used The results showed important gender differences in completed suicide cases on various dimensions. Implications for health professionals, social and community workers, policy makers as welt as for parents are discussed.
