SOCIOLINGUISTIC STUDY OF ANIMAL SYMBOLS IN SHAH ABDUL LATIF’S POETRY
Abstract
Symbols and signs are essential for poetry. Birds, insects,
animals, plants and trees as symbols are used by great poets in
their poetry.
In the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Symbolic and allegorical
use of animals of this land is mentioned at the great extent. Even
some birds, insects and animals are also characterized to make
the poetry beautiful and didactic. There is a great use of animal
symbols in the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif.
These characterized signs and symbols of Shah Latif are
adopted by modern poets of Sindh afterwards. This essay describes the sociolinguistic analysis of Shah’s animal characterization in his poetry. By this article, we know the closeness of
Sindhi society with animals, their humane and wild feelings, their
socio psychological and linguistic situation as well.
