Fateh nama Sindh-Alias Chachnama's originality and its theoretical application
Abstract
This monumental book appeared in the academia in 2016 and
its concise name is "A Book of Conquest" but its full title is "A Book of
Conquest: The Chachnama and Muslim origin in South Asia”. The writer
of the book Manan Ahmed Asif was born in Punjab and is presently
Professor of History at University of Columbia. The book is a scholarly
study of Fatehnama Sindh and a critical evaluation undertaken in the
article reaches the following conclusions:
a-This is an original work written in the thirteenth /13th century, and is
not an Arabic translation of an old treatise.
b-The book presents a political theory in the context of the thirteenth
century political perspective and objective conditions existing then.
c- British imperial power, nationalistic and anti-secular, sectarian
vested interests have persistently manipulated the text to prove their
respective stand points.
The research article has discussed and evaluated all the above
three viewpoints.
