Abstract
Allah Almighty sent the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) as the last prophet
alongwith His last book. Neither prophet will come after him nor will other divine book come.
The Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (saw) contain instructions for the solution of
all the problems of human beings until the Day of Judgment. Even more astonishing is the
fact that there are limited verses of the Qur'an and limited hadiths from the Sunnah, which
provide solutions to the infinite problems that will come up until the Day of Judgment.
However, this is possible only through the correct interpretation of the Qur'an and Sunnah.
This article discusses the principles of interpretation of these limited statutory texts of the
Qur'an and Sunnah; and the beginning, compilation and evolution of these principles. It has
also been proven in the article that the art of interpreting the laws is in fact the invention of
Muslim Jurists. Before them, the world of law was unfamiliar with this field of law.
