The Jurisprudential Limits of the Arts and Entertainments in Islam
Abstract
Sports and entertainments are essential part of human life and an inevitable for his health. Every system and government of this globe provides the opportunity to its public to express their joys and happiness in their own ways under the norms set by the state. The basic question is, does Islam allow the humanity to play the games and express their joys and not condemn them wholly? So, it should be clear that Islam does not permit to its believers to spend their lives in dry and colorless modes but It instigates them to participate in games, festivals, competitions and cultural events. Islam has its own setup which differentiates it from other setups and cultures. Islam introduces its own norms and principles for sports and entertainments. Moderation, Importance of time, body-covering arrangements, condemnation of obscenity and mixing of opposite genders, condemnation of lying and humiliation etc. are the key Islamic principles of sports and entertainment. A man can express his feelings with sports and other events by following Islamic said principles.
