Ways of “Malool Hadith” based upon “Ikhtilaf” in the book of Al-Mujamul- Awsat by Imam Al Tabrani
Abstract
In order to protect the Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (S.AW) Allah Almighty had created men who were the symbols of piety and knowledge. Their memories were exemplary. They introduced different fields of knowledge to protect Hadiths from every kind of error, mistake or amalgamation. They had pointed out “Malool Hadith”, but sometimes did not give the hidden defect in it. Due to this a difference of opinion among scholars occurred؛ that in case of difference between “Mutasil” and “Mursal” Hadeeths, and Marfoo and Mauqoof Hadiths which is to be preferred. Some of the scholars devised rules and regulations and in accordance to these rules resolved every difference of opinion. The researcher among scholars assert that the early scholars did not resolve such a difference of opinion on the basis of rules and regulations but on the basis of pondering over the distinct features of every hadith.
In this paper, I have discussed the ways of “Imam Tabrani” that he too did not use proper rules in his book Al Mujam- ul- Awsat for the resolution of such differences. Rather he used to resolve every difference on the basis of narrators and the essence of the “Hadith”. I have explained through examples that at times he prefers “Marfoo” hadith over Mauqoof and vice versa. Sometimes he accepts the additions of “Siqa narrator while at others rejects it.
