Abstract
It is generally believed that Sufis of the subcontinent played an unforgettable role in the purification of human minds and hearts of the society. The great Sufi of NWFP (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwah) Shaikh Syed Kasteer Gul alias Hazrat Kaka Sahib popularly known as Rehmkar (merciful) was the legend of the time. His role for education of the people of Muslim community is highly appreciated in every nook and corner of the country even today. Within the fold of Shariat, he wanted to see his people advancing in the field of education. Hazrat Kaka Sahib (R.A) had a great knowledge about Tassawaf and Shariat. He knew if the people did not get knowledge of Tassawaf and Shariat, they would face difficulties in spiritual life. In this connection, for the sake of education. He opened seven madrassas where students used to come and get education in different disciplines. The present paper will present a comprehensive sketch of the spiritual life and career of Kaka Sahib in general and his services for uplifting the Muslim community through Islamic education in particular.
