Abstract
heikh Mubarak Ali Ayaz (1923-1997) was a revolutionary and progressive poet of Sindhi language and literature. He wrote almost twelve poetry books for the Sindhi literature. He also wrote two books of Urdu literature. Besides, Sheikh Ayaz worked very hard in the field of Sindhi and Urdu literature. Hence, without Sheikh Ayaz contributions Sindhi literature seems incomplete. Prison-based life and contribution to Sindhi literature of Sheikh Ayaz has a great value, which has not yet been touched in detail by any scholar through research. He apparently decried against the British rule as well as Martial Law in his books, due to which he was imprisoned again and again. However, in the prison he never remained silent and did hectic efforts for promotion of the Sindhi literature. On the life of prison, he wrote a book entitled "Sahiwal Jail Diary", which has great importance in Sindhi language and literature
