Abstract
Sindh is a province which is rich in history and culture. After June
712, when a small Muslim Society established in Sindh, Islam became a
most important component of the Sindhi Culture. Ulema and pirs, who are
integral part of a Muslim Culture, also played a prominent role in the
dissemination of Islam in Sindh.
There are many World famous ulema and pirs who contributed their
due role in the establishment and consolidation of the Muslim Society in the
province. The Pir Pagaro Family is one of the most important families, as
this family, since the second quarter of the 18th century is serving the cause
of Islam. Sayyid Muhammad Rashid Shah (May 1758 - May 1819)
commonly known as Ruzah Dhani, after becoming sajjadahnashin of his
father, Sayyid Muhammad Baqa Shah (1723-83) gave impetus to his
family's religious and spiritual traditions.
In this paper, an attempt has been made to highlight the life and
works of Pir Ruzah Dhani and his sayings about the Shari'at and Tariqat.
The English, Sindhi and Urdu sources has been used for this study.
