Abstract
Iftikhar Mamdot has played a positive role in the Independence Movement of Pakistan in 1940's. He stood by the Muslims of Punjab to reach out to their cherished dream of Pakistan. However, after achieving the goal he got involved in petty politics. He did not handle the colleague's politics adroitly. Daultana-Mamdot tussle and the centre getting involved in it was uncalled for. The objective of the article is to comprehend the mistakes and emphasize on devolution of power to grass-roots level. People should not be handicapped to get their problems solved by provincial capitals or at Federal level. The local bodies members should be in a position to solve problems like providing health and education facilities, clean drinking water, roads, streets and availability of daily utilities to the people. Pakistan has a long way to go, it must have frequent elections at different tiers of governance i.e. local, provincial, national levels (National Assembly and Senate). People representatives at every level must be made to deliver or they should be shoo-off from their public offices.
