Abstract
Wahdat-ul- Wajood or Pantheism is a we11 known s ubje‘ct of disctission in the study of Sufizm.‘or
mysticism. Mpst of the SuJs are of th‘e opinion that” the spirits of pantheism cannot be deftned
grid explained.in any tfpe of words, because .it is directly based on self observations and
feeltngs. However some of the religious scholars as well as the Sufis had explained the term of
pantheism (IMahdat-ul-Wajood). In there explanation and interpretations a lot of contradictions
have been found. .Some say that pantheism is a théoiy which is related Io the Subject of
philosophy. Some relate this theory to religion and they fry to base it on Quranic verses and
Hadith. .Among Muslim philcisophers Ibni Arabi is the grealesi interpreter of this philosophy or
Hieory and a few Sufis like Junaid Bughdadi, Abiibdkkar Shibli, Zennoon Misrl, and Hussain
Ibn-e-Mansoor Hallaj ha’ve presented Sufi”th“oughts concerning pantheistn before Ibn-e-Arabi. A
number of Muslim Sufie were follow ing the thoughts Df.Ibni Arabi. However some of them differed
and denied these thoughts in the Islamic “ext. . ’ J .. . . , In this paper all these connects ons of pantheism with Islamic thought and some other philosophical theorie:s hâve been discussed. The thoughts o'f the followers of pantheism and some opponent's\ scholars have also been analyzed. At the end it has also been explained with references and evidences, that what should be the real st‘atus of Wahdat-ul-Wajood or pantheism in the p erspective of Islamic thoughts.
