Abstract
The fact is something which is the root and truth of subject matter. Externally seen object is also called as the real fact and to express the same in the true essence is known as realism. It means the realism is the process of expression of life on solid, materialistic and on real foundation and avoiding the imagination, perception, idealism, fantacy and supernatural world of expression. In literature, the realism was started in the Western World and then graduatlly it spread over the world of literature. Urdu literature has also inspired of it. In Urdu literature, the old tradition of realism are found in the literature based on story telling. In this regard, Mullah Wajhi's "Sub Rus" was the origin. Later on it was reflected in all the fiction and non fictional literature with an impact. Even in this age, this trend is shown of in all the guilds of literature. In the current thesis, the trend of realism in Urdu literature has been briefly reviewed in both critical as well as research perspective.
