Abstract
Mustafa Kamal was a Turkish leader, a brilliant military comander, founder and the first president of the Republic of Turkey. In 1935 when surnames were introduced in Turkey , he was given the name Ataturk, meaning," father of the Turks". Looked upon as a hero in the subcontinent, Ataturk attracted wide support among the Muslims, especially for his role during the Turkish War of Independence. Lots of books were written on him in Urdu. Prominent poets from Subcontinent like Mohammad Iqbal, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, Wajahat Hussain Wajahat wrote poems on him and Saadat Hasan Manto, the most powerful writer of Urdu, wrote a short story on him. In this article some examples of poems, short stories and passages from the travelogues written on Mustafa Kamal has been given.
