Abstract
This research paper is about the critical and analytical study of Proverb and Idiom in Punjabi Literature. Researcher compared and reviewed the views of experts about definitions of proverb and Idiom in English, Urdu and Punjabi. Proverb is called "Akhan" in Punjabi and "Kahawat or Zarbul Missal" in Urdu. Basically a proverb is a statement of people's experiences from generation to generation or any universal truths about different aspects of life which provides a lesson for life. While idiom is a group of words having particular meaning different from the real meaning of each word. In present research composition, sources, types, topics and subjects of Punjabi Proverbs have been analyzed and critically discussed with authentic references. Difference between Proverb and Idiom also has been discussed in it. Researcher discussed about different kinds of proverbs with examples. He reviewed the work of different authors about proverbs and idioms in Punjabi Literature and share his own comments. The Paper is very informative and valuable.
