Abstract
The fictional literature of any language is verily worth enough to feel pride on it. Urdu language can also be a lucky language in this regard. This is a common misconception that fiction is something to be read whereas it is more linked with narration and listening. This study is an Urdu translation of the English study conducted by Francis W Pritchett. This study aims at highlighting the importance of fiction writing in Urdu language for the readers of Urdu function by focusing on the research and critical studies conducted on fiction. This study also explored the minute difference between fiction and story. This study is an attempt to encompass all the critical and research studies conducted on fiction till 1990 and Dastan Ameer Hamza is presented as representative of the fiction work. In this regard the information given in Appendix will prove quite interesting and helpful for the fiction lovers.
