Abstract
Urdu poetry witnessed an era wherein all of the poetic thoughts and style was borrowed from the Persian masters like Sa'adi, Jami, Khaqani etc. Urdu classical poets have been the pioneer who began the use of Indian language, theme, idioms and imagery in Urdu Ghazal. These poets unraveled the beauty and richness of Allusions (Talmeehat) as a poetic medium. An allusion/Talmeeh is a word or phrase designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly. By using allusions, the Urdu classical poets, also articulated the things or ideas, persons, places from other languages like Arabic and Persian etc. Shaq ulQamar, the splitting of Moon is a miracle attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s) derived from the Quranic verse 54:1-2 and narrated in Hadith. Isra and Mi'raj, are the two parts of the night journey that, according to Surah al Isra of the Qur'an followed by the details in Hadith, are the two parts of the miraculous night journey that the Prophet (s.a.w.s) took during a single night in 621 AD. Both of the miracles have efficiently been alluded by the Urdu classical poets for the poetic expression. This article studies the use of the allusioins based upon Shaq ulQamar and Isra and Mi'raj in Urdu Ghazal and provides its critical analysis
