Abstract
Keeping in view the literay movement of of realism, the objective of this
article what to study and analyze the modern Urdu and Saraiki short
story. Although realism and short stories are considered contradicting to
each other yet the inculcation of realism and objectivity in short stories
have been found to be the source of brilliance in them. It has also
included the Saraiki short story as a literary genre in the mainstream of
fine literature of other languages. This study also proves that apart from
the influences of global literary movements on Urdu and Saraiki short
stories, the impact of realism as a literary movement has made Urdu and
Saraiki short story the counter narrative of world literature.
