Abstract
Freud's theory of Unconscious reveal that man lives in two worlds, the exposed
world of conscious and the imperceptible world of unconscious,
synchronically. Modern psychology suggests that unconscious stimulates most
of human activities. This concept influenced Modern Fiction Writers to
delineate their characters with both introspective and exptrospective
significance. The writers, with variegated techniques, tried to reach the covert
unconscious to explore the unrevealed internal reality. "Stream of
Consciousness" is one of their most effective techniques which attempts to
harmonize and organize the chaotic inner world of their characters by analyzing
them at both subconscious and unconscious level to explore their present, past
and future concerns. This research paper is an attempt to analyze the manner and
range of the technique of stream of consciousness in Urdu Novel.
