Abstract
Maulana Shibli Naumani holds a prestigious position among
Urdu historians. In fact being the pioneer of Urdu history he occupies
the most significant position among his contemporaries who tried their
hands at history. He hasn't written about any specific time or era,
rather has been writing essays on different subjects according to the
need. Maulana wrote many biographies as well which hold
prominence in Islamic history. It is customary for Maulana Shibli to
connect his subject with history even if it is academic or literary in
nature.
