Abstract
Women have made great contribution to Pashto folk literature. Most of this literature
is composed by the women that reflect the psychological, social and moral problems
that have been symbolically discussed particularly in Tappas. Pakhtun’s women have
contributed a lot to Pashto Literature because they are born poetesses. The Lullaby’s
that are sung by the Pakhun women are also the creation of these women that have
been conveyed to us in oral form. Feelings of inner nature give birth to literature.
When a poet or a literary person is keenly obsessed by the events and circumstances
of the society then he/ she reflects all these in his/ her work and the readers enjoy it.
Literature as a whole depicts the social and psychological problems of human being.
In Methew Ornald’s words literature is the criticism of life. Non fiction prose essay,
travel-age, reportage and other genres have the peculiarity and significance in this
regard. Pashto female non fiction writings are the true mirrors of social and
psychological subjects since very long but in 20th Century a few female Pashtoon
writers contributed a lot to the subject mentioned. Sayyeda Qanita Begum, Salma
Shaheen, Haseena Gul and some other female Pashtoon writers can be picked from
the first who has contributed to Pashto Literature regarding the social and
psychological issues in their non fiction prose. This article deals with the cited prose
writing of the said prominent female prose writers. An analysis also has been made
along with relevant references in this context
