The word Qafeiz-ut-Tuhan is an Arabic terminology
which refers to a specific wooden bowl used by the
millers of olden days. Though its shape and style
has changed with passage of time, but its concept
and usage still remains. This proper bowl was used
by the owner of mill taking his labour cost out of the
grains in place of cash price. The Holy Prophet
(PBUH) in his times prohibited this sort of dealing
but later on the Islamic jurists took it a customary
(Ur'f) one and granted its approval. In this article
the Hadith as well as the thoughts of jurists have
been explained.
