Imam Fakhr al- Dinal –Razi (1149-1209) the
writer of 93 huge academic deliberations is also
the author of Mafatih al-Ghaib” the keys to
unknown” commonly known as Al –Tafsir alKabir . This encyclopedic Arabic commentary
possesses a distinctive method of interpretation,
rational and logical discussions, rhetorical
explanations and grammatical structures of the
Qur’anic verses. The intellectual brilliance of
Imam Razi has universally been highly praised
and testified. Several works have,so far, came
out which discuss his biography and views,
especially his position on logic and philosophy.
The researcher has chosen to analyzeand
evaluate the details of wazu(ablution) in the light
of four Sunni Schools of thought Al Fiqh 'ala Al
Madhahib Al Arba'ah, which have been
described by Imam Razi in sura Maida. All
Muslims are required to do the ritual cleansing
(wudu) before performing their prayers so it is
obligatory for every muslim to perform the wadu
according to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah.
