Academic and research journals serve as exllent
tools to nourish, promote and enahance the
intellectual reasoning and research capabilities of
individuals. They also provide a scholarly forum to
present the leatest research as well as for appraisal
of the existing research. As per the directives of the
Higher Education Commission almost all public as
well as private sector universities and even some
private organizations of the country are engaged in
publishing and editing the research journals as HEC
format in their relevant fields of studies.
Islamic and Religious Studies are no exception.
Till date about Twenty Five such research journals
are being published from different universities and
organization countrywide. This paper presents a
general overview and discusses the editorial policy,
indexing, online availability, HEC recognition and
themes or specialiced areas of five research journals
in Islamic Studies which were recognized by the
Higher Education Commision of Pakistan in March
2016. This paper will serve a basic orientation to the
research scholars and faculty member of Islamic
Studies.
