Quran is the richest book in Arabic language with
respect to Eloquence and Rhetoric. It has always been a
major source of reference for scholars doing research in
the mentioned areas.
In this research paper we have focused on a
specific genre of Quran's text; the supplications of some
prophets. The Prophets whose prayers are discussed in
the research paper are:, Shuaib, Loot Eesa, Sulaiman,
Ayyub, Zakaria, Yusuf, (A.S). The key points which are
discussed in the research paper are: brevity through
expunction, Separation (الفصل ,(metaphor and its kinds,
the consistent repetition of Nida' (نداء ,(selection of words,
contextual study, use of proper and common noun,
metonym, inspirational secondary meanings and other
genres pertinent to art of Eloquence and Rhetoric.All the
mentioned points are beautifully discussed with pregnant
results. The primary and secondary sources are given at
the end.
