Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) spread the teachings of Islam in Makah for almost 13
years opposite staunch rivals .In 622A.D he migrated to Yathrib (Madina) along with his
companions. At that time Yathrib was a society comprised upon people relating with different
beliefs, mostly large numbers of Jews. These tribes were indulged in sour quarrels and more
often entangled in wars over minor disputes which continued for generations. The bitter
atmosphere of chaos in Madina ultimately forced the inhabitants to go for different choices to
seek peace and harmony among themselves. There was a consensus to make a ruler so that
stability and harmony could take place for the people around .At that time ,Prophet
Muhammad(PBUH) arrived in Madina and he (SAW) was seen as a most respectable, honest
and trustworthy person there, so he was requested to rule “the soon to be city” state of Madina.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) established an Islamic state of “Riyasat - e- Madina”.
For hundreds of years the Muslims have had their own culture and civilization deeply rooted in
Islam .they have their own social sentiments, habits and customs derived from the Quran and
Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH).Government in Islam both in form and practice is totally different
phenomenon from the western system of government and democracy. “Riyasat - e -Madina” was
the ideal Islamic Government and we have to follow it for our successes in all over the world.
