Abdul- Rehman Peshawari (1236---1711 AD) is famous for
Rehman Baba was the son of Abdul Satar Khan. He was the
resident of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Phkhtunkhwa
Pakistan. He was a great poet of Pashto language and
literature.
The author has explained in this article that the poet is one
among Pashto poets that possess a prominent position among
them and in the Pashtun society, but how did he make his
poetry famous among the Pashtun society and how did he
impart the teachings of the Holy Quran to them through his
poetry? And how did he gain this methodology? This research
work seeks to gain access to the conclusions for which a
critical and analytical descriptive method has been adopted.
This research work concludes that the poetry of Abdul Rehman
Baba included topics like introduction to the basic faith of
Islam i.e Thawheed and Resalat, and their attributes, invitation
towards spiritual relation with them, mortality of the world,
eternity of life after death, success of humanity in pleasure of
Allah and its failure in displeasure of Allah. He wrote poems
with intention of getting pleasure of Allah and success of
Allah`s creations. It is felt that his poetry is needed to be
studied with keen interest in order to have glimpses of success
in life as attracted the Pashtun community to read and listen to
his poetry.
