Abstract
The sound is very basic and natural tool of human language that’s why the study of phonetics has gained the significance in the field of Linguistics. Generally, two aspects of the phonetics are distinctly studied; general sounds with focus on their characteristics and tools, and formed sounds with a focus on syllables, stress, and tune. Syllable Structure constitutes the component of phonological divisions focused on pronounceable segments of words and how they are composed, divided and distributed. From this aspect, the Arabic language is characterized by groups of syllables and each group consists of several sections strongly joined to each other. Thus, the Arabic speech is divided into groups of those sections and groups usually known as “morphological unit. Although the word is only a part of the speech characterized by the groups of syllables that are strongly joined with each other, but at the same time, they remain distinct at the time of utterance and hearing which. The study of Arabic Syllable helps us to understand the possible forms of the Arabic words and make it possible to distinguish between Arabic and non-Arabic words as it also helps to understand the texture of Arabic word and rhythms of Arabic poetry. The aim of this paper is to present the various aspects of Syllable, its division and importance in the Arabic language speech.
