Abstract
The use of various literary techniques is seen in Urdu fiction from the very beginning. One of the psychological techniques used by female fiction writers before partition is a monologue. Asmat Chughtai and Mumtaz Shireen are prominent female fiction writers of that era. In both of these, the rebellious way of social rhetoric is expressed through the monologue. In particular, the social pressure and its emotional tragedies are described by monologue and soliloquy. This article deals with all those reasons and motives that causes monologue in the fiction of pre- Pakistan women fiction writers.
