Abstract
This article mainly consists of three parts:first is the evolution of radio,
the second is development of radio as Radio Pakistan, and the third one is
the services rendered by Radio Pakistan in the field of Urdu literature.
The Radio was an elementary media of mass communication in the
beginning of 20th century when there was no alternate electronic media
of communication in existence in the world.Thereafter radio was
established in the sub-continent which played a very important role in the
awakening of public. After independence, first radio station was
established in 1948 in Karachi. Before independence in Peshawar,
Lahore and Dhaka, radio stations were already established. Radio
Pakistan provided a strong platform for promotion of Urdu literature.
Radio Pakistan also introduced very legendary personalities of literature
known throughout the World. Z.A. Bukhari was one of such illuminated
personalities who led the Radio Pakistan in its early years.
