Abstract
Allama Muhammad Iqbal is one of the lucky poets of the world on which much
has been written during their lives. In Pakistan, Iqbal is important also being the
ideological creator of this country. Most of what has been written about Iqbal or
his poetry is about his thoughts and philosophy. This article highlights that our
traditional Urdu criticism didn't do justice with Iqbal as a poet. Much has been
written on Iqbal as a philosopher. So Iqbal's poetry should be appreciated
according to the literary standards. However, Saleem Ahmad's and Shams
urRehmanFaruqi's criticism falls in the category of literary criticism.
