Abstract
Quratul-Ain-Haider is an out standing and most celebrated literary figure of indian urdu novelist and short story writer. Love with pen and literature is in her genes. She considers writing a metalogical process. When she started writing radical changes were taking place, old values were diminishing and new modern trends were prevailing. There was a conflict in the glorious past and the ambitious future. Restlessness anxiety of two world war. National and international political and economic havocs and tragedy of partition were the hot issues. In this uncertain atmosphere she was tempted to write on taboo subjects. She also took into account the complexities and problems which were the product of unequal/unjustified social systems. She instilled a new spirit in writing which was yet unexplored. Instead of highlighting the negative aspects she laments the fading civilization of feudal system. Quratul-Ain-Haider belongs to the intellectual society of Hindustan and Europe. She did not only study different civilization and histories but also herself lived and breathed the day and night of capitalist society and its civilization. This conflict and the reality of these systems is very much evident in her short stories.
