Abstract
The poem " Arz-e-Hal" by Altaf Hussian Hali is an expansion of "
Musaddas-e-Hali", but its form is different to the Musaddas. This poem
describes the story and feelings about ups and down of the Muslim Umma.
Hali was so anxious about the Muslims of Subcontinent, which led him to
the august doorstep of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). He Expresses his
spiritual and social feelings regarding Muslim Umma and beseeches to the
Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) to have a kind look. This poem presents the
doomed situation of the Muslims after 1857 with the qualities of "Naat" and
appeal. According to Hali, Main Purpose of Poetry is more important than
characteristics of Poetry. In this regard, the analysis of this poem is of
paramount importance.
