Abstract
A number of efforts have been made to edit the poetry of Maulana
Hali. In this regard, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Siddiqui holds a special place.
The present article, while partially discussing various attempts to edit Hali's
poetry, presents a detailed evaluation of the compilation and editing work
of Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Siddiqui. The article first discusses the sources used
by Dr. Siddiqui and then critically evaluates all the references cited in the
edited work. The study shows that Dr. Siddiqui kept all relevant sources in
his view and edited the collected works of Hali by using the best possible
editorial skills.
