This article discusses the role of women
in Pakistan’s politics in Islamic perspective.
There are three major points of view in this
regard:
1. Traditional: Women were expected to
maintain female roles in the house. Their duties
are included to take care of the family and be
obedient to their husbands. So they should not
take any part in political roles.
2. Islamic: In political matters Islamic history
provides precedents for women. Since the
beginning of Islam, women have had a voice in
electing their leaders. The leader of an Islamic
state is confirmed by the people through a
process known as al-bai'ah.
3. Modern: at present women are playing all
kind of roles in political issues, from elected
candidates of Assemblies to Leader of the state
and other type of political activities. Some
Scholars may suggests and approve all kind of
such participation.
This article concluded
1. Women could not become Leader of State;
however they can perform all of other political
duties following the Islamic rules. Women do not
travel freely without their mahram.
2. Veil/Hijab is necessary for women3. For political affairs a lot of time is spent in
political discussions. In this condition, women
house life should not be disturbed.

delegations and visit should be according to
Islamic rules
