The present article compares the two versions of the
same narrative of the complying of the command of
ALLAH SubhanhuWaTa’ala (SWT) by distinguished
prophet Hazrat Ibrahim KhaleelullahAlaihes Salam (AS)
to slaughter one of his sons. As one of the great tests of
the sacrifices of the chosen people (prophets) by ALLAH
(SWT), the story is of great importance in both Islam and
Judaism and is given in detail in both of the divine books.
The study compares and contrasts the narrative by
exploring the identity of the slaughtered son (considering
various features and qualities of both Hazrat Ismail (AS)
and HazratIshaq (AS) for their identity), narrative style
and the happening of the event. Based on the qualitative
analysis of the verses given in both of the holy books, the
study concludes that it was Hazrat Ismail (AS) who was
attempted to be slaughtered by his father in order to fulfill
the order of ALLAH (SWT) and, thus, recommends that
the term of Zabeeh (AS) may only be used for Hazrat
Ismail (AS).
