تلخیص
This paper examines the some aspects of the agrarian structure of Bahawalpur State and course of its development under British headed administration. The Agency regime coincided with several developments in the agrarian economy of the region; individualization of land rights, rigorous collection of revenue, extensive canal network and better agricultural production were the chief characteristics of new agrarian frontier. These endeavors not only helped to transform the traditional farming to modern agriculture, but also changed the socio-economic spectrum of the State. The article also traces the State’s measures to control over the debt situation. The paper is mainly based on assessment and administration reports, political proceedings and official publications
